Katy High School teacher Rhonda Burrough had a vision for a prairie outside the high school that would give her students an outdoor working and learning space. What she didn’t have was funding to create that space.

Burrough, an AP Environmental Science and AP Chemistry teacher, applied for a grant through the Katy ISD Education Foundation’s Inspiring Imagination program to get the resources she needed to bring her vision to life.

The Katy ISD Education Foundation, founded in 2013, has issued $1,384,103 in grants since its inception. The teachers are awarded the Inspiring Imagination grants directly.

In 2019, the foundation awarded a total of $341,371 to 352 teachers across 42 campuses in Katy ISD. Those grants have directly impacted 63,427 students and indirectly impacted countless others.
