The San Diego County Bicycle Coalition announced Thursday that it had hired Sylvie Froncek to be the group’s new program director.

Froncek will oversee educational outreach for the coalition, including adult safety classes and presentations at local K-12 schools. She will also conduct outreach to local businesses, encouraging employers and workers to commute on bicycles whenever possible.

She replaces Michelle Luellen, who after three years with the coalition recently left to work as the director of education with Refugee Net.

Froncek, 31, moved to San Diego from Austin, Texas, about a year ago and immediately started volunteering with the nonprofit. She quickly became a certified instructor.
