SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) –A major software company wants to make its way to Syracuse. If approved by the City’s Common Council, Microsoft would be heading to the Salt City as part of the ‘Syracuse Surge’ initiative.

Microsoft announced similar hubs earlier this year in Louisville, Kentucky and Houston, Texas.

Where Microsoft would set up shop in Syracuse hasn’t been finalized, but Mayor Ben Walsh says the hub will be used for developing uses for new technology, aiding tech start-ups and training the workforce of the future.

Microsoft joins J.P. Morgan Chase and JMA Wireless as two major parts of ‘Syracuse Surge.’
