CHANDLER, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) – Sex ed in school is canceled.

That’s what’s happening at the Chandler Unified School District for fifth and sixth graders.

Instead, they’re sending email links to parents to teach their kids themselves.

District officials said they’ve been discussing this for a couple of years now and believe parents can better answer questions about sex education than teachers can.

But parents and students told Arizona’s Family they were all blindsided by this decision, and feel this will lead to students being less informed as they go through puberty.
