‘’We’ve conquered all of Europe, We’re never gonna stop’’ this line has been proven by the reds on Wednesday 23rd October. The Champions of Europe strikes again with a 4-1 victory against Genk in Belgium. Liverpool FC continues to prove itself as the best football club. Not to forget Alex Chamberlain being the man of the match as he scored 2 goals! Let’s see how the reds won the game and the hearts of Liverpool Fans.

Manager Jurgen Klopp went for his previous strategies of placing Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita alongside mainstay Fabinho and indeed this plan paid off! It was the first goal in the Champions League for Chamberlain since April 2018. And it took him two minutes to mark his goal. Impressive!

On the 77th minute, the usual Liverpool pass of Fermino, Salah which ends with a goal of mane has made the match more exciting with a 3-0 score. And they kept the best for last with Salah scoring his goal which was assisted by Mane. The Egyptian king, Salah twists himself away from the defenders of Genk and shoot at the far post. That’s typical Liverpool players!

Genk did not give up at the last minute as they scored a goal in the 88th minute of the game. Odey rotates with a finish and flies the ball past Alisson. But alas! Nobody could stop the Champions of Europe from winning. This victory of Liverpool was the first pool-stage away win. And the reds joined in Group E’s top two.

Centre-back defender, Lovren said; “I’m really glad to see Ox score two goals, even if I told him the second one was lucky … he didn’t accept that!”

“[It’s] great for his confidence and overall he needed that after he did not have so many minutes this season and the injury for last season. It’s great to have him back. When you look back, we are not the best away team in the Champions League. I don’t like to say that but it’s the reality. We needed this win, especially because it is quite tight in the group at the moment and we are still having to play Salzburg away. It will still be tough but let’s keep this quality.”

Liverpool ended their four-game losing run in away Champions League group stage games. The man of the match Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain scored a double. And goals from Sadio Mane and Salah made the match reached heights.

Van Dijk said to Chamberlain “He’s worked so hard to get back to this point and he deserves a night like that,” He’s such a great guy, such an important guy for the group. He’s a quality player and he showed it, not only with his goals but also with his all-round game. During a difficult period, he always managed to stay positive. We were all there for him. Pre-season was tough for him but he’s showing a lot of great things right now. He’s so sharp. His goals made the difference. The first one was so important and the second was a killer for them. It’s just great to see him back out there.”

Alison Becker, even though he came out from an injury he played the game and made wonderful safe. In an interview he said: ‘’It was special for everyone. We see him working hard on the training ground, I worked with him in the last few weeks and in the international break we had training and he was enjoying the sessions. I’m really happy for him scoring like that, playing like that and helping the team. I think he is really happy, as am I. Now coming back in the Champions League and Premier League with the way the team is playing, I’m really happy to be back’’.
