Yoenis Céspedes last played for the Mets on July 20, 2018. Somehow, quite impressively, he has at different points in time, for better or worse. 

This time, it’s good for the team. 

According to reports, Céspedes and the Mets agreed on an amended contract. He remains with the team, but the sides agreed to lower his salary from the original $29.5 million. ESPN’s Jeff Passan reported the Mets will save “well over $10 million” with this settlement. 

This was the product of a grievance settlement, per reports, that was approved by Major League Baseball and the MLB Players Association. The situation causing it all: In May, Céspedes – already rehabbing from surgery on both heels –  during an accident on his ranch.
