During this Season of Sharing and beyond, access to pre-K education and the nurturing and essential development that comes with it must be a priority.

As executive director of the Pacers Foundation, I sift through weekly — if not daily — applications from dozens of youth-serving nonprofits in Indiana seeking the Foundation’s support.

Each quarter, our Foundation board then pores over the list of applications which best fit our mission of providing assistance to Indiana’s most vulnerable, at-risk youth.

It’s heartwarming to be able to say yes.

And it’s often heartbreaking when, because of limited resources, we have to say no.
