MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Leon Daniels had a season-high 20 points as Alabama State snapped its eight-game losing streak, getting past Mississippi Valley State 81-75 on Saturday night.

Tobi Ewuosho had 16 points and seven rebounds for Alabama State (2-14, 1-2 Southwestern Athletic Conference). Jacoby Ross added 11 points. Decardo Day had 10 points for the home team.

Brandon Battle, whose eight points per game entering the matchup was second on the Hornets, scored nine but shot only 2 of 10 from the field.
