MATTOON — Student Brandy Verdin had an easy commute from her classroom to her workplace during her 2019 spring and fall semesters at Lake Land College.

The Mattoon resident’s workplace was on campus in the TRiO Student Support Services office, where she answered the phone, scheduled appointments, filed paperwork, and recruited students for this program.

“It was fun. I got to meet a lot of nice people. I got to make friends along the way,” Verdin said. The social work major has completed her studies at Lake Land and has transferred to Eastern Illinois University in Charleston.

Eastern and Lake Land offer opportunities for students to work part time on campus in a variety of positions.
