Cho, one of the largest producers of olive oil in the southern Mediterranean, has teamed up with to trace its extra virgin olive oil and ensure good quality.

The partners will track eight different quality assurance checkpoints, including the orchard where the olives were grown; the mill where the olives were crushed; and the facilities where the oil was filtered, bottled, distributed, and more.

The deal comes shortly after a similar partnership to improve the sourcing of coffee with blockchain so coffee drinkers can trace their coffee beans back to the original farmers. Blockchain is the transparent and secure distributed ledger that makes cryptocurrencies possible. Since it offers secure identification for products, it helps get around problems like fraud or counterfeiting.
