Let’s take John Beilein’s word and accept that he made an unfortunate verbal mistake, , the word he says he wanted to say.

Players, including Kevin Love who called Beilein a good man who made a mistake, accepted Beilein’s apology.

But even giving the first-year Cleveland Cavaliers coach a pass, Beilein has had a turbulent entry into NBA coaching. 

This is not what he envisioned when he decided to leave Michigan and a career spent mainly at the college level.

Beyond a 10-27 record – and to be clear, no one expected the Cavs to contend for a playoff spot this season – Beilein’s struggles have been amplified by disgruntled players, and an inability to create an identity for a rebuilding team.
