The Agawam Cultural Council is a very active volunteer organization in town bringing enriching programs to adults and youth alike. As a local partner of the Massachusetts Cultural Council, it receives funds from that state agency. But it also raises, on its own, 60% of the money it needs to present a wide range of events.
Bob Kadis is chairman of the council, which has been in existence for about four decades. The biggest program the council runs is the Applause Series, now in the middle of its 16th season.
“It was started by my wife who passed away in 2007,” Kadis said. “We had worked as a team, but I took over when she passed away.”
He starts planning the September to June series,
