The auto industry cut 50,00 jobs in 2019
President Donald Trump, pictured here next to General Motors CEO Mary Barra, promised 100,000 new auto jobs during the State of the Union address.
If you’re looking for work, would the auto industry provide job security?
President Trump promised “nearly 100,000 new high-paying American auto jobs” in his State of the Union address Tuesday, a result of the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA). He added that the agreement would “boost exports for our farmers, ranchers, and factory workers.”
However, there were 50,776 job cuts last year in the auto industry, according to a report published Thursday by Challenger, Gray and Christmas, a Chicago-based outplacement and career transitioning firm.
