Gov. Tom Wolf on Monday ordered all Pennsylvania schools to remain closed until further notice in response to the escalating impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The move came one week after Wolf had extended what started as a two-week closure.

The move also came as no surprise to some Crawford County education leaders.

Crawford Central School Board member Frank Schreck had predicted as much a week earlier during the board’s first all-online meeting.

“We probably will not, in all honesty, be back in school for the remainder of the year,” Schreck said as he encouraged the district to move forward with online instruction during the March 23 meeting, “so it’s time for Crawford Central to put education on the front burner.”
