IOTA, La. (AP) — Louisiana State Police are investigating a fatal shooting by police in a small south Louisiana town. Trooper First Class Thomas Gossen says in a news release that police in Iota were called to a house shortly after 10 p.m. Wednesday and found a man with a gun in a vehicle. The statement released Thursday says at least one officer shot the man, but doesn’t say whether the man had threatened or fired at the officers. Gossen says none of the officers was wounded. Iota is a town of about 1,500 in Acadia Parish, about 53 miles (85 kilometers) east of the Texas state line and 78 miles (126 kilometers) west of Baton Rouge.
