Rapid City, S.D. — For the 50th annual Earth Day, Black Hills Energy is raising awareness about the positive impact of trees on the environment. The company has partnered with the Arbor Day Foundation to give away more than 1,000 trees to customers, of those, 250 will go to homes in South Dakota. Customers will have a choice of five different trees on a first come, first served basis. The trees themselves are 3-4 feet yearlings and include the Northern Red Oak, Red and Sugar Maple, Allegheny Serviceberry and the Littleleaf Linden. They will be delivered to customers for Spring planting starting in May. BHE also has an online tool that determines where to plant trees to boost energy-saving benefits.
