A Round Rock school district principal is once again a finalist in the H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards.
Kathy Cawthron, principal of Claude Berkman Elementary Arts Integration Academy, is among five principals throughout the state vying for more than $400,000 in cash prizes in the annual program.
Cawthron, who joined the district in 2015, has been an educator for more than two decades.
Unlike past years, finalists are being interviewed by videoconference due to the coronavirus, and winners will be announced May 6 on the Excellence in Education Facebook page, fb.com/HEBExcellenceinEducationAwards.
Created in 2002, H-E-B provides the awards to honor outstanding public school professionals.
