ROCHESTER. Minn. (FOX 47) — As distance learning becomes the new normal, an educator who teaches a unique group of students that may find distance learning more difficult than others, is working hard to ensure his students get the most out of their temporary online education.
Philip Giarrantana teaches at Zumbro Education District’s Area Learning Center in Byron. He’s responsible for about 20 6th through 12th grade students.
“As a teacher its’ been tough not seeing my kids. I see them on video every day, but just not being around them is tough,” Giarrantana said.
He works with a wide range of students with different learning needs.
“I work primarily with students with behavioral needs, and then I do work with students with learning disabilities.
