Nearly three quarter of Chicago’s cases of COVID-19 have been among African-Americans and Latinos, with the city’s West Side particularly impacted.

COVID infections here occur in a much younger profile than many realize, with more than half of positive test results coming from those age 30-60.  But fatalities are heavily concentrated among those over age 60, with a stunning 92.6 percent of those who die having a preexisting medical problem.

And while the curve of the pandemic in the city continues to bend, the total number of daily new cases continues to rise, and hospital usage has only flattened.
