A CPS Energy employee has tested positive for the coronavirus, the utility company announced Friday.

The employee does not have customer-facing duties and last reported to a company facility more than 14 days ago, according to a statement.

CPS Energy learned of the test result on Thursday, the same day the employee was tested for the virus. The employee is recovering at home.

The company said it notified co-workers who were in contact with the individual.

“We do not anticipate this development to significantly impact our business operations,” CPS Energy said.

More than a third of the company’s workforce — roughly 1,200 people — has been working remotely during the pandemic.
