RICHMOND, Va. (WJHL) – The Virginia Department of Health reported 26,746 cases of COVID-19 in the state on Wednesday.

VDH said there have been 927 deaths across the state along with 3,520 hospitalizations. The number of testing encounters totaled 180,084 in the Commonwealth Wednesday.

COVID-19 cases remained steady in southwest Virginia this week – the health department didn’t report new cases in the region from Sunday through Tuesday.

While localities in northern Virginia have opted to delay reopening the state due to increased spread of COVID-19, spread in the southwest region of the state slowed – reporting fewer than 20 new cases for the first two weeks of the month.
