June 3 (Renewables Now) – US electric infrastructure developer Bright Canyon Energy, part of Pinnacle West Capital Corp (NYSE:PNW), said on Tuesday it will be negotiating an off-take contract for a 42-MW solar-plus-storage project in Hawaii.

The company has joined the final award group in Hawaiian Electric Company’s recent renewable energy procurement with the Kupono solar project on the island of O‘ahu. The particular development will be coupled with a 42-MW/168-MWh battery storage system.

In addition to the successful negotiation of a power purchase agreement (PPA), the project is also pending clearance by the state’s Public Utilities Commission (PUC). It is expected to start power supply in 2022.
