A cyclone in the Arabian Sea is barreling towards India’s business capital Mumbai, threatening to deliver strong winds and flooding to an area already struggling with the nation’s highest number of coronavirus infections and deaths.

Cycle Nisarga is expected to make landfall close to Alibag, 100km (62 miles) south of Mumbai – a coastal city home to 18.4 million people – on Wednesday afternoon, the Indian meteorological department said.
