NASHVILLE — Six seats on the newly named Nash County Board of Education are up for election this year.

The filing period for those seats is open through noon Aug. 7.

Interested individuals must complete and submit a Notice of Candidacy form along with the $60 filing fee to the Board of Elections by the end of the filing period.

Candidates must file with the elections board in their county of residence. The Nash district encompasses all of Rocky Mount, a city located in Nash and Edgecombe counties. Until July 1, the district was known as Nash-Rocky
