Last spring, To Educate All Children’s inaugural Tee Up Fore TEACH event looked a lot different than this year’s. A number of well-known philanthropists, including Astros pitcher Lance McCullers and wife Kara McCullers, drove out to TopGolf in Katy for a private, driving range-themed fundraiser.

This go-around, with COVID-19-related closures in effect, hosting a large group at the entertainment facility was out of the question. So the nonprofit’s co-founder, Susan Sarofim, and her interim director of development, Ashley Dillard, got creative.

Their goal? To raise funds toward TEACH’s intensive training program, which helps Houston educators de-escalate student conflict to create safe, productive classroom environments.

The challenge? Keep the event planning budget as low as possible.
