U.S. stocks opened lower Friday after Beijing retaliated against the Trump administration by ordering closed an American consulate in Chengdu, and as the Senate left Washington without a deal in place to extend emergency stimulus. The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, -0.48% fell 150 points, 0.6%, to open near 26,503, while the S&P 500 SPX, -0.48% lost 21 points, 0.7%, opening near 3,215. The Nasdaq Composite Index COMP, -0.70% slid 1.6% or 167 points, opening near 10,294. The tech-heavy index hasn’t closed lower for two days in a row since May.
