CLEVELAND, Ohio — A state board awarded a job creation tax credit worth an estimated $1.1 million to a Brecksville mortgage lender with plans to move its headquarters to downtown Cleveland.

The Ohio Tax Credit Authority on Monday gave the OK to a 1.655% credit that CrossCountry Mortgage can claim for eight years.

The company agreed to create 180 new jobs with an annual payroll of $9 million as part of its plans to relocate its headquarters to a historic cluster of buildings between East 21st and East 22nd streets from Superior Avenue to Payne Avenue in the Superior Arts District. The company also vowed to keep 446 jobs and maintain operations at the project location for at least 11 years.
