These should be Biden’s goals now
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi put her finger on the key economic issues facing the United States when she recently called for a “big, bold and transformational” infrastructure package to follow the $1.9 trillion Covid-19 rescue bill. She wisely highlighted transportation, energy, water, education, and broadband internet as some of the nation’s “critical needs.”
Most Americans, however, have little idea how far this country has fallen behind on meeting these needs. Yet, without modern infrastructure, the US cannot create decent jobs, social justice or climate safety. After decades of delay, now is the time for President Joe Biden to go big.
