Michigan surpassed 600,000 cases of coronavirus on Wednesday, as state officials urged residents to double down on masking and social distancing while vaccination efforts are underway.

The state added 2,316 cases and eight deaths from COVID-19 on Wednesday, bringing the total number of cases to 601,284 and deaths to 15,707 since the virus was first detected in March 2020, according to the state Department of Health and Human Services.
