April 7: The New York Islanders acquire forwards Kyle Palmieri and Travis Zajac from the New Jersey Devils for a first-round pick, a 2022 conditional fourth-round pick and prospect forwards A.J. Greer and Mason Jobst. Islanders general manager Lou Lamoriello was expected to make a move after captain Anders Lee was lost for the season, and he made a big one. Palmieri averaged 26 goals a season from 2015-20, and Zajac is a lifelong Devils player who was drafted by Lamoriello when he was GM in New Jersey.
