In a news release Wednesday, the city of Ames reminded residents that it is still taking applications for COVID-19-related rent, mortgage and utility assistance. Ames received $356,455 from the third round of CARES Act funding, according to the release. The funds were provided through the Community Development Block Grant program.

“We know this has been a very difficult year for so many people, and we have financial aid available for those struggling with basics like paying for housing or utilities,” housing coordinator Vanessa Baker-Latimer said in the release.

Who is eligible for CARES Act funding?

To be eligible for assistance, you must be an Ames resident who is able to document loss of income directly
