LEXINGTON — Julie Borchers got hooked on special education while working as a preschool teacher. 

As the new special education director for Lexington Local Schools, she’s looking forward to helping the district meet all its requirements within the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.

“I love the law aspect of it. I’m a rule follower,” Borchers said. “I enjoy that part — compliance.”

Borchers will work exclusively with Lexington Local Schools as the director of special education through a contract with the Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center (MOESC). Superintendent Kevin Kimmel explained that as a MOESC employee, Borchers will benefit from the support of MOESC’s director of student services.

Lexington will also contract with MOESC to bring a new school psychologist, Julia Pilla, to the district.
