KALAMAZOO, MI — A new entertainment venue, mead hall and outdoor beer garden are coming to downtown Kalamazoo.

With grand designs on a 4,000-square-foot mead hall, an equally large concert space, a dog-friendly beer garden with more live entertainment, and later on a Nordic tapas restaurant, and soon City Union Brewery beers — will soon call the space at 530 W. Kalamazoo Ave. home.

Thom McGuire, vice president and chief operation officer of the employee-owned mead maker, said the hope is to be in the new space, formerly occupied by KM Machinery, by year’s end.

At present, Valhalla operates out of a space at 3408 Miller Road, where the company has been crafting mead since 2012 and distributing around the state.
