Enrollment, fine arts standards, Oceti Sakowin Essential Understandings and more than 100 teacher openings across the state were among some of the topics discussed Monday morning at a meeting of the South Dakota Board of Education Standards in Sioux Falls.
Here are five things to know from the two-hour meeting held at Carnegie Town Hall.
Monday’s meeting marked the second of four public hearings on revisions to multiple standards.
Career and technical education: agriculture, food and natural resources; Arts, A/V, technology and communication; finance; health science; human services; manufacturing; and fine arts standards were all heard Monday.
Future hearings will be held in Pierre and Rapid City on these standards. The first hearing was held in October in Aberdeen.
