From: College of Agriculture and Life SciencesVirginia Tech’s Online Master of Ag and Applied Economics, which is geared toward individuals who want to achieve next level knowledge in advanced economics and data analysis, is now accepting applications for the summer and fall of 2022. These skill sets prepare graduates of the program with the expertise to tackle challenges and opportunities that businesses and government face today.
Since launching in 2021, the online innovative program is preparing students for high-paying positions as business strategists, data analysts, managers, consultants, and more.
“This program will produce sought-after experts, and graduates will leave with the confidence and knowledge to impact and develop solutions to pressing issues of today,” said Donna Faltin, program director and associate professor of practice in the Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics.
In fact, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics in 2020, the expected job growth of economists through 2030 is 13 percent and graduates can expect to make on average $108,000 a year.
Our MS alumni are recruited by employers like ExxonMobil, Smithfield Foods, Economic Research Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture, Pinnacle Foods, Farm Credit, Australian Competition & Consumer Commission, Virginia Corn Growers Association, U.S. Department of Defense, Conagra Brands, Croplife America, and Virginia Economic Development Partnership.
