Boris Baltes named interim dean of the College of Education – Wayne State University

Boris Baltes, senior associate provost for faculty affairs, has been named interim dean of the College of Education. His appointment is effective July 1, 2022. During his time as interim dean, he will also remain in his position in the Office of the Provost.

“Dr. Baltes has held several key administrative appointments during his time at Wayne State, including department chair and his current role as senior associate provost,” said Mark Kornbluh, Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs. “I have worked closely with him this year, and I am confident that his leadership skills and style will serve the college well.”

Baltes selection was made in consultation with the College of Education’s Executive Committee. 

Baltes first came to Wayne State in 1998 as a faculty member in the Department of Psychology. Baltes’ major research interests include examining biases in performance appraisal, age and workplace issues and the area of work-family conflict.

His work has appeared in many journals, including the Journal of Applied Psychology, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, Journal of Management, and the Journal of Organizational Behavior. He has been an associate editor for the Journal of Organizational Behavior, a guest editor for the Journal of Business and Psychology and is on the editorial boards of various journals.
