The decisive swing came after Bassitt froze Machado with a two-strike pitch that appeared to be in the zone for an inning-ending strikeout, but the right-hander didn’t get the call. “He was throwing the ball really well and we were able to get that one hit,” Machado said. “That one mistake, we were able to take advantage of it, and that’s what good baseball is.
