The thermometer still might read more than 100 degrees, but Phoenix-area employers are starting to gear up for the holiday shopping season, while others seek to fill ongoing labor needs at a time when the Arizona jobless rate hovers around 3.3%.Several large employers are holding upcoming job fairs or other hiring events. Some examples:Postal Service has 800 open positionsThe U.S. Postal Service will host a job fair Friday, Sept. 9, in hopes of filling more than 800 open positions in Arizona, including around 400 in metro Phoenix.The event will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at El Zaribah Shrine Auditorium, 545 N. 40th St. in Phoenix.The service has openings for carriers, mail handlers, support employees, automotive technicians and other positions.Starting pay ranges from $17.32 to $27.52 per hour, depending on the position.
