Saint Michael’s College celebrates International Education Week – Vermont Biz

Vermont Business Magazine Saint Michael’s College is celebrating International Education Week with a series of activities centered around the ways global connections enrich learning and help prepare future leaders.   The celebration from Nov. 14 to 18 is being organized by the College’s Center for Global Engagement along with other groups within the Saint Michael’s Community. International Education Week is a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education designed to celebrate the benefits of international exchange and international education.  
The following events being held by Saint Michael’s College will be free and open to the public:   
“The Role of the Global Compact on Migration in a World of Dislocation and Displacement”   Nov. 14 at 7 p.m.   Farrell Room, St. Edmund’s Hall 3rd floor  
Sonali Samarasinghe, who currently serves as the Coordinator of Interpretation and Translation Services with U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants in Vermont, will deliver this presentation. Samarasinghe is a human rights activist, journalist, lawyer and diplomat who previously represented Sri Lanka in the United Nations. She is a native of Sri Lanka, where she practiced law for 20 years. As an award-winning journalist, she focused on human rights, government corruption and women’s issues.   
“I Rode a Rickshaw to the Revolution: What I Have Learned from a Life on the Road”   Nov. 15 at 7 p.m.  Farrell Room, St. Edmund’s Hall 3rd floor
