When LaShawn Davis applied for a job in the human resources department at a company with more than 300,000 employees, she thought she would enjoy the role and that it would be a great addition to her resume. But Davis ended up leaving after eight months, feeling exhausted and unappreciated. “Once I got in, I realized I had no voice,” Davis told MarketWatch. Her suggestions were either not heard, she said, or were taken without giving her credit. Having come from a different industry, she also found that she was not given time to learn how things worked in her new company. She found herself constantly needing to explain and justify her work.
