How Does Roaming Work in Europe
Since 15th June 2017, ‘free” roaming applies to 28 countries within the European Union. This means, that anyone with a local SIM card from one of the countries, can roam freely across borders and still use the local allowance of data, calls and texts. No extra charges will appear unless you run out of your allowance on a post-paid SIM card.
The additional rule is that it only applies to people who are truly traveling, not for those who are moving abroad. Last but not least, it only works with a SIM card from one of the European countries. If you own a SIM card from anywhere else, you still pay the roaming charges.
