They all provide you with free data roaming in more than 200 destinations worldwide. SimOptions is Europe’s #1 marketplace for international Prepaid SIM Cards for travelers all over the world. Take the advantage from the lowest rates for internet data, calls and SMS during your next trip abroad without any additional roaming fees. They offer Prepaid SIM Cards for Europe in all formats: normal, micro and nano sizes, as well as mobile phones and travel accessories so you can stay connected throughout your trip. All SIM cards are 100% Prepaid – no contract – no hidden extra costs.

Why You Should Choose SimOptions

You can enjoy 3G+/4G LTE networks (almost) anywhere in the world with SimOptions, as long as you own an unlocked cell phone. They work closely together with the best internet service providers on each continent. For example, AIS & TrueMove H for Asia or Orange Holiday & Three for the European countries.

Within Europe, they offer SIM cards with data package deals up to 20GB in 4G/LTE, 3,000 Min Calls & 3,000 SMS with prices ranging from $29.90 USD to $84.90 USD.

The question remains: Why order a SIM card online instead of simply buying a local SIM card once you arrive in Europe? Simply put, it is not that easy to register a SIM card as a foreigner in Europe. In most EU countries, you need to physically enter a store and present your personal ID. Even then, you may have to wait a few days, before your SIM card gets processed and activated.

With SimOptions, you do not need to provide any personal ID to register the SIM card and the SIM card works straightaway.

Furthermore, they provide an extensive network of different logistics provider to cover almost any corner in the world. Do you want to get it delivered to your home? Nothing easier than that. Do you want to pick up the SIM Card at their office in Paris? That’s possible. Are you leaving in a few days and not sure if it will arrive early enough? Just get it delivered to your holiday destination abroad.

How Does Roaming Work in Europe

Since 15th June 2017, ‘free” roaming applies to 28 countries within the European Union. This means, that anyone with a local SIM card from one of the countries, can roam freely across borders and still use the local allowance of data, calls and texts. No extra charges will appear unless you run out of your allowance on a post-paid SIM card.

The additional rule is that it only applies to people who are truly traveling, not for those who are moving abroad. Last but not least, it only works with a SIM card from one of the European countries. If you own a SIM card from anywhere else, you still pay the roaming charges.

As of January 2019, the ISP’s in the EU charge €4.5 (≈ $5.10 USD) per GB that has been used via data roaming. Just for 20GB data alone, you would end up paying $102 in international roaming charges! This does not even include phone calls or text messages! With a local SIM card, you don’t need to worry about completely destroying your travel budget.

What You Can Expect from the SIM Cards

On my recent trip to Europe, I had the chance to test out SimOptions’ Three SIM card. From ordering the SIM card to activating it, it all was an extremely simple and convenient process. You can pay online with your Debit/Credit Card, PayPal or Alipay.

As the SIM card comes into 3 different pre-cut sizes, you can insert the format that will fit your cell phone. After you’ve inserted the SIM, you need to either turn on your mobile data, make a phone call or send a text message to activate the SIM Card. From this point on, your SIM is valid for exactly 30 days.

After my initial activation, I immediately ran a speed test to check if its truly a 4G connection. It came as no surprise to me that the SimOptions SIM card held up to its promise and delivered the advertised connection speed in Europe. Even when traveling across different countries in Europe, the connection never dropped.

Each Europe SIM card comes with its own phone number, which made it extremely easy for my local friends in Europe to contact me. Incoming calls and text are completely free!
