(RNS) — President Joe Biden plans to give an address at Mother Emanuel African Methodist Church in Charleston, South Carolina, on Monday (Jan. 8) as he prepares for the Democratic Party’s first primary of the 2024 presidential cycle.The Rev. Eric S.C. Manning said the president also will meet with families of “the Emanuel Nine,” the people who were killed in the 2015 massacre at the church by a white supremacist who attended a Bible study there before opening fire.
